COERR Mae Sot supported Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence in Temporary Shelter

   The campaign to raise awareness about gender-based violence was launched from November 25 (the International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10, 2022 (Human Rights Day), in most of temporary shelters.

   The objectives of the 16 Day Activism Campaign were: to raise awareness of everyone in order to decrease violence against women and girls; to promote the role of girls in calling on each community leader and all societies to stop the violent behavior which would lead to reduction of gender-based violence problems in the community.

   There were about 200 people attending this campaign. It was expected that 100 participants would take action in stopping violence against women and girls. The other 100 participants who submitted their essay/ composition realized about the impact of the gender-based violence problem and would take part in solving this problem in Ban Umpiem temporary shelter. It was anticipated that gender-based violence problems occurred in the community should decrease by 30%.
